Great experience! Alex was an awesome instructor and super friendly. We were surfing actual waves in no time for the first lesson. I'm pretty sure I got the bug since I am now looking into buying a surfboard for use out here in Cali. Thanks a lot Poipu Beach School for the lesson.
I was with someone who was terrified of the ocean, and, after surfing with Jordan, she was pumped on the experience. Thanks, Jordan. Your enthusiasm helped a ton! That's a gift that will keep on giving!
The staff is really friendly, but I felt like they kind of just threw us on the surfboard before we understood what we were supposed to do. It would of saved me a few wipeouts if they had taken time to allow us to practice a bit more.
Had an awesome time learning to surf with our instructor. I forget the name of the guy that gave us the lesson but Alex set up our time and got us situated when we got there. Expect to show up your lesson 10-15 minutes early for a briefing and safety video. Parking can be tough in front of the surf shop but pretty easy where the lesson is a minute down the road by car. Great selection of stuff at the shop too.
The next day, we happened to run into Doug and he was all things gracious, stoked, and informative. Very cool. We're looking forward to a 2.0 session someday. Go with these folks. In my humble opinion, it'll be worth it. Lastly, we enjoyed the 8am session to start the day!
I took my two nephews to Kauai and they wanted to learn to surf. This surf school was perfect. Set in a beautiful spot with the most friendly and patient instructor. The boys had a blast and learned a lot! I give this 5 stars! Great fun!!
