I was very saddened to see a photo on the Kauai Hiking Adventures website of tourists sitting much too close to a sleeping sea turtle. As a sustainable tour operator I would think you would have a little more respect for the native wildlife on this island. It's people like you who encourage bad habits of visitors to Kauai and ultimately disrupt the habits and ecology of our native wildlife.
and hike the falls. My son ended up slipping and getting a cut on his head. Without Jerimiah I could not have made it through this very difficult circumstance. He had the required first aide kit and cleaned my son up, while offering to carry my son to the car. He drove us to a very nice urgent care not too far from our hotel and offered to come back to the hospital to pick us up.
I had my heart set on hiking in the beautiful Waimea Canyon (& KoKee State Park) while on our week long vacation to the island. But I was afraid the family would back out if left to our own whims. So I signed us up for Kauai’s Hiking Tours 'Ultimate Tour', and believe me, Jeremiah did not disappoint! From the very beginning when he called personally to get a feel for what we were looking for, I knew we were in good hands. He has a way of making sure everyone is enjoying themselves and is comfortable with the level of difficulty of the hikes. There is something special about experiencing nature using our feet, and sometimes our hands, that makes you feel your connection to it. Everywhere he took us was breathtaking. And he even threw in a few surprises along the way (I won't be a spoiler by telling you what they were!). We finished the day by celebrating "life" at a truly magnificent beach, watching the sunset and our teens blissfully living in the moment.
We did the highlights tour which was perfect for my Mother in Law and 7 year old daughter who would not have been able to do a long hike. It was mainly a driving tour with stops for short walks to see some incredible views. Jeremiah was really great with our kids too! He really knows his way around the area and accommodated our trip to meet our needs. We will definitely look him up next time we're on Kauai and hopefully the kids will be old enough to do a long hike!
Jeremiah was great. He had a good deal of knowledge about the island and showed us some blow holes completely on the side of the trail and one even covered by a bunch of dirt that we would never have noticed. He was able to arrange a volunteer to let us into the cave as well which was great and he made sure everyone in our group (7 year old to 73 year old) was okay on the hike.
Jeremiah showed my son and I the best experience hiking up the great sleeping giant. He had the perfect walking sticks and he has such a clear and apparent love of nature that exudes from his being. From being environmentally conscious, then taking it a deeper level by respecting and honoring the ancient culture of magical Hawaii. I learned so much from all his wonderful stories and myths. He knows the name of all the plants and trees and even showed us a yummy edible flower we kept eating along the way.. oh how I wish I was back there again, so magical.
I loved our hike so much that I planned a second trip with him for my son and I to see
Not only is Jerimiah a fantastic guide, but he also is a very kind and gentle soul.
