We LOVED the poke here! We visited once, then the next day we took a food tour that stopped here, and we actually came back again later that day. The Gorilla bowl is the best, and they give amazing service.
Had the gorilla bowl - simply amazing. The combination of having salmon, ahi, and ono all in one bowl is such a good idea. What differentiates this poke bowl from other places is it's made to order - they make it right when you order it. Additionally, the variety of toppings they include (such as avocado) make this much more than just fish and rice. Definitely on the pricier side, but it won't disappoint.
Makai is located in the grocery store, and is well worth the visit. The entire grocery store is family owned, so please support the small business!
Staff was very helpful and friendly as well. The rest of the market had some nice finds, including Thai food and the juice store in the back as well as the shaved ice cart in front.
Discovered this gem on the first day of our vacation and returned almost every day for lunch, as well as had Makai rolls at our wedding reception! The fish is fresh and sauce is on point! I highly recommend the Gorilla bowl!
We ate here today since we're staying closeby, and we saw all the awesome reviews.. which are basically spot on. We have a very high bar set for our sushi and we'll we got every sushi roll but the California and we got the Gorilla bowl. Everything was AMAZING. Fresh fresh fresh!!! Absolutely delicious. Yes the location is odd but get take out and watch the sunset ... A++++
Had the gorilla bowl and highly recommend! My wife loves poke and has eaten her fair share and she gave a five out of five. Trust me, this is a BIG deal. She is hard to please.
