Our favorite place to snorkel. Plenty of paved parking. A sheltered, sandy-bottomed "sponge bed" for the smaller kids. Great place for sunsets. You might even see some monk seals! The west side (left when looking ocean-ward) seems to have the better snorkeling: lots of fish and sea turtles.
We spent all day here. We saw so many fish it was awesome. There was a seal on the beach which was an added bonus.
Get there early cuz parking can be hard to find. There's a great little Deli next to this beach that have great shaved ice with macadamia nut ice cream. Yum.
Visited here three times during my trip, and each time there were one or two monk seals on the beach. Twice I saw one swimming in and flopping its way up the beach. So cool. The snorkeling here was very good, and I came in late November. The beach itself is just very beautiful. Good sheltered water for swimming, with rock Jetties that prevent big waves. Clean bathrooms and outdoor showers to hose off.
Loved by the whole family. We snorkeled, we sun tanned, we built sandcastles, we even saw dolphins across the barrier jumping and playing... wonderful beach. Lifeguards made us feel that extra level of safety. We will be back.
This place is great for snorkeling. It is amazing seeing so many fish I had only seen in aquariums in real life. I even spotted a few sea cucumbers and an eel! Both times I went there were sea turtles and monk seals on the beach!!
If you are looking for a great snorkeling place. With great Scenic views great beaches and a beautiful atmosphere this is the place.
